Hudson Valley
For more than three centuries, the Hudson Valley, located just north of New York City and extending south of Albany, has been a destination for visitors from far and wide. However, this definition is not commonly used and the Tappan Zee Bridge is often considered the southern limit of the Hudson Valley, the rest of NY is consdered "Upstate". The New York State Thruway, I87, defines the Hudson Valley region to begin at Exit 9, Tarrytown, though 21A, Berkshire Section to the Mass Pike, I90. This historic region offers mansion tours, museums, performing arts centers, numerous historic sites, one-of-a kind events and a host of other attractions. Enjoy! There's only one Hudson Valley. It's only 4 hour drive from Boston or Philadelphia.
Catskills

To the south is Lake George and Saratoga Springs, to City of Plattsburgh in the north. With so many lakes in between. The distance from NYC to Plattsburgh, NY is 310 miles, then to Montreal, Canada is 56 miles. Now we're talking about a vacation!
